Hi, my name is Donnie McMillin. I’m a filmmaker based out of Los Angeles, CA and whether you are looking for an editor for a project or in need of a director for your music video or film I’d love to work with you on your next production. Grounded in realistic conflict

Two brothers are ignited to become vigilantes when their youngest brother is murdered by a corrupt police officer, and in the heat of the moment where they confront his killer, each brother must decide what justice truly is and when one brother chooses retribution and the other the legal system, they quickly become life-long adversaries by fighting each other over the fate of the officer responsible.

Dragon Ball Z: Light of Hope is a non-profit, live-action Dragon Ball Z web series. It’s made by fans, & is not affiliated with or endorsed by the official license holders. Dragon Ball Z: Light of hope is a live-action adaptation of “The History of Trunks” TV Special. In this timeline, Goku & the other Z Warriors are dead. This is the story of Gohan & Trunks in their battle to survive against the Androids.

FIGHTING COLD

This was taken on our first day of filming the fight scene of episode one. We filmed on top of a mountain in the fringed cold and in order to make the action feel believable we avoid using green screens as much as possible. Instead, we rigged our actors to a lift and launch them into the air using pull-systems for the flying and fighting shots.

THE WASTELANDS

We filmed episode two & three in the incredibly apocalyptic Salton, CA. The real life abandoned city provided the perfect backdrop for the scene where our hero, Gohan has his final battle with our villains, The Androids in an epic showdown in which the fate of the world depends.

MY ANY MEANS

Often times as an indie-filmmaker we have limited resources but still need to convey big ideas. That was the case in this situation. In order create the illusion of Android 17 (played by Tyler Tackett) flying through the air we had our actor stand above us on a hilltop. We then hit him with a leaf blower to simulate wind, filmed from a lower angle, and had him rise up into the frame to create the illusion of flying.

I had the pleasure of working for DC All Access from 2016-2017. I was the lead editor for worked on various daily videos where we interviewed the actors, filmmakers, and comic book artist that are responsible for bringing many of the the most iconic superheroes to life.
